Hotel California!

By October 8, 2017USA

After leaving Hawaii with a heavy heart, we are now already enjoying the autumn in sweet California and I guess we couldn’t have had a better start into our first week. Not only did we have the chance to stay with Michl, an old friend of Philipp from Santa Cruz, but we also got our own private floor at his house right next to the ocean (quiet luxury for our usual travel budget). Additionally we also re-discovered our love for dogs as we were introduced to Paco, the faithful old fellow Michl was looking after.

Philipp and I really enjoyed every second and were pretty overwhelmed by all the hospitality. One evening, Michl (who is btw from East-Tyrol), also cooked a traditional Austrian dish for us. It was amazing and probably the reason why it felt even more like back home.

All in all, we really had a great time and were more than happy that we had the chance to stay with Michl and Paco in Santa Cruz. Thanks again for everything!

As you might already know us, we also used the available time and relaxed atmosphere to work on some of the still unfinished work from our recent time in Hawaii. Staying at one place instead of jumping from A to B really helped us to stay focused, develope a good work/leisure ratio and still have a good time with our host.

Another reason why we also tried to get as much as possible work done, was our upcoming road trip with two super close friends from back home. As we haven’t seen them since we left Austria in January, we just wanted to get everything done before we start into our new adventure across California with them.

So as time keeps passing crazy fast during our journey, we are now already sitting at the airport in SFC and can’t really wait to finally welcome them at the arrival hall. We are super excited and are looking forward to hit the road with them. In the meanwhile, stay tuned!

Over and out for now –  they should arrive any minute.

All the best,
Melanie & Philipps
