"These were our projects around the world - lean back, take a look & don't be shy."

E-WASTE: INDIA’S NEXT BIG WASTE PROBLEM

“Together with Digital Empowerment Foundation in New Delhi (India) we helped to empower marginalized communities in information dark regions. While working on a variety of projects during our two weeks with them, we didn’t only help to collect new photo and video footage for their ongoing projects, but also set our main focus to dig deeper into the local e-Waste situation by creating an in-depth photo documentation.”

DISABLED RIGHTS: HELPING DUBAI BECOME MORE WHEELCHAIR FRIENDLY

“Being in Dubai, Philipp had the honor to team up with “Wingz of Angels” and their social initiative that aims to make the world more wheelchair friendly. So far, they didn’t only build over 330 wheelchair ramps with various key organisations in the UAE, but also extended their team to more than 150 volunteers (wing-eers). While working with them for 10 days, we created tons of new photos and short social media clips to help support their cause. Most of those can now be found all over their social media channels!”

HEART WORK & SOUL TRAVEL: MAKE VOLUNTEERING GREAT AGAIN

“Working together with Karmalaya in Nepal was special! While their main focus is usually to offer a meaningful combination of travel, volunteering and living together with locals, we had another mission with them. They urgently needed new marketing footage for their upcoming website. So we teamed up for four weeks, traveled to remote regions all over Nepal, produced two social media videos and tons of photos for their new website relaunch. A journey and an adventure we won’t forget so fast!”

PHOTO COLLABORATION: CAPE TOWN

“Experiencing South Africa and its charm for the very first time, we didn’t only want to end up at the typical tourist spots. Therefore we reached out to a local team of creatives to work on a project together. In the end, it was four of us. One model, a second photographer from Finland, Melanie as the perfect assistant and me as another photographer who also did a short making-of video about the whole photo shooting.”

FAIR TRADE: ESTABLISH A REASONABLE ECONOMY

“Fair Trade Hongkong is committed to establish a fair trade economy to ensure producers in the developing world can receive their fair share of income, alleviate poverty, reduce inequality, and contribute to a sustainable future. Being aware of those values and knowing that we will be in Hong Kong, we immediately wanted to team up with them. After reaching out, it surprisingly didn’t take long until they already invited us to their office once we were in town.  A couple of weeks later, we already visited a local tea plantation and worked on a photo documentation with them. The result: Photos that didn’t only make Fair Trade Hongkong and us happy, but also Lidl UK showed interest and asked for permission to further use some of our photos for their Fair Trade products.”

PHOTO COLLABORATION: HONG KONG

“Planning another photo shooting along this journey, but this time in Hong Kong, it was about time to extended our little team a bit. I always had this idea in mind about shooting late night in Hong Kong, only using its famous Neon Lights as main light source. So after collecting some further moods and getting a better idea about the desired end result, I decided to also reach out to a local hair & makeup artist to bring another collaboration partner on board. As soon as we started shooting and seeing first results, I immediately knew that it was the best idea!”

EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES: HELPING REFUGEES & ASYLUM SEEKERS

“While first having some struggles to find a meaningful collaboration in Australia, a friend luckily introduced us to CareerSeekers. Based in the heart of Sydney, it is a non-profit social enterprise that works with leading organisations to create employment opportunities for asylum seekers and refugees who aspire to obtain professional employment. Something, that perfectly matched our goal to “Help, Learn & Share” around the world and also reminded us about the refugee situation back home before we left into this journey. So joining their team in Sydney for two weeks really meant a lot to us and we managed to not only produce a new image video for them, but also to complete a full series of new employee- and refugee portraits. An achievement we are still looking back in proud.”

PHOTO COLLABORATION: SYDNEY

“Working hard on our main collaboration in Sydney, I always wanted to make at least one photo shooting next to it. So I came up with this crazy idea about renting an awesome Airbnb apartment for one day and collaborate with a hair & makeup artist, a stylist and a good looking model. The end result? A super sexy shooting with an Australian lingerie brand and tons of stunning photos! Will keep you posted once they are finally published.”

EXPLORATION & ADVENTURE: NEW ZEALAND IN WINTER

“Even if we didn’t expect it and just wanted to make a five weeks road trip through the South and North island of New Zealand, Travellers Autobarn (the rental company where we booked our camping van) reached out to us as the saw our photos of the adventures trip through the stunning landscapes of New Zealand on Instagram. The deal: They wanted to use our photos for their website and social media. In exchange, we got a special deal on our camping van and even some days off as we wanted to extend it at the end of our trip. Could have been worse, right?”

KARMALAYA: HELLO OLD FRIEND

“Already knowing “Karmalaya – Heart Work and Soul Travel” from our collaboration in Nepal, they reached out to us again as they heard that we were also heading to Hawaii during our journey around the world. It must have been a coincidence that they just teamed up with a local project partner on Hawaii right before we had our stop there. So the goal was: Same same but different! They really loved the outcome of our collaboration in Nepal and now wanted to achieve something similar for their new project on Hawaii. Already knowing and having a good relationship with them made the new project a blast!”

PHOTO COLLABORATION: NEW YORK

“After some successful photo shootings in Cape Town, Hong Kong and Sydney during this journey, I knew I also wanted to work on something during Halloween and our time in New York. So I did some further research and quickly got stuck with the work of Felix Kunze. A photographer who not only moved from Germany to London and afterwards to New York, but who I already knew from some famous online photography classes on Creative-Live. After reaching out to him, it didn’t take long until everything was settled and I was part of his Halloween photo shooting team to help him out on the streets of New York.”

HOL(Y)I INDIA: THE FESTIVAL OF COLORS

“India being our second stop on this journey, we first came for a special mission: Survive the Holi Festival of Colors in one of the most holiest cities of India. Speaking about that afterwards, we didn’t only survive, but would probably describe it as super fun, crazy wild and somehow dangerous at the same time. Guess that’s also the reason why Hostelworld was interested in a collaboration with us. The deal: Free accommodation and social media exposure in exchange for an Instagram take-over during the event. Sounds easy, right? Not if you are constantly “attacked” by wet and dry splashes of color powder from all directions.”

START THE ADVENTURE: OUR STORY FROM AROUND THE WORLD

“STA Travel was not only the travel agency we booked our Around-The-World tickets with, but also a helping hand whenever we needed something throughout the entire adventure. From steady contact on Social Media, to the one or the other email about possible collaborations. It always felt like we had some good companionship. Therefore, we also made our final and last collaboration about this journey with them. A blog post about the DO’S & DON’TS as a world-traveler and a one week Instagram take-over during the Christmas holidays. Speaking about that, it looks like that everything basically started and also ended with them. Quite cool if we think about it!”

HOME: SWEET HOME

“Dolomitenstadt and its online/print magazine was another constant fellow and collaboration partner around the world. Since the beginning, it not only offered us a platform to write and summarize each stop, but also gave as a way to keep our families back home updated. As Dolomitenstadt Lienz is also the city where we both were born, it was a special honor to collaborate with them from the very beginning to the very end. Thank you again Gerhard for this opportunity!”

STOP HUNGER: HELPING ON THE STREETS OF MANILA

“Studies show that 20% of kids under 5 years old die due to poor health services in Manila. Poor nutrition is therefore still a major problem in the Philippines. To raise awareness and help as much as we can, we teamed up with Caritas Austria and their local partner in Manila. Together with them, Philipp was spending close to a week documenting (photos and videos) the local situation, trying to create as much as possible footage to raise awareness and help fundraising. An experience, he probably won’t forget in his entire life!”
